The library at work was giving away a lot of free hardcover journals from the 1970s that were doing nothing but collecting dust. And whilst that might be good for somethings at a museum, it definitely is not the case with library books. I grabbed a few in the hopes of trying a new project...a hollow book...which took me forever to cut out the pages! As such I have quite a few pages that I thought I would try and recycle rather than just throw away. This is what I came up with:
I inked up the paper with some 'vintage photo' distress ink, then inked the edges with 'walnut stain.' The argyle stamp is a Tim Holtz design from Stampers Anonymous stamped in Staz-On Timber Brown and covered with clear embossing powder. The chipboard piece is from my stash, inked with 'walnut stain' distress ink and god embossing powder. The sentiment is my own made from a simple piece of copy paper, inked with 'antique linen', 'vintage photo' and 'wanlut stain' distress inks.
The brown and mesh ribbon are from my stash. The cream seam binding (yay I finally have some) and the cotton lace were purchased recently from the Craft and Quilt show. The metal button is a new range to Spotlight from Francheville called 'vintage.' (N.B It's so great to see Spotlight finally up their game with regards to scrapbooking and embellishments. It almost makes the messiness of the store worthwhile.) and the metal key is also from a new range at Spotlight called 'SteamPunk' from Solid Oak Inc (For those in Melbourne, it's in the jewellery section.)
I'm entering this into the following challenges:
- Pile It On Challenge #32 - Add Some Metal
